UPI Privacy Policy

United Pacific Industries (UPI) Pty Ltd ABN 65 050 278 361 (trading under brand names Thermoskin, iHealthsphere, SleepDoctor Snoring Relief, Sea-Band Australia (together UPIweusour) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of personally identifiable information collected about our customers. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, the word ‘customers’ includes visitors and purchasers from our websites at UPI, Thermoskin, CoolXChange, SeaBand, SleepDoctor Snoring Relief, and iHealthSphere (together the Websites) who are registering their warranty information.

We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (‘APPs’) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Types of personal information we collect

Unless you specifically tell us, our Websites will never know who you are. We only collect personal information when we provide our service to you. We usually collect personal information such as your name, address, email address, telephone number, mobile phone number, and in purchase instances, your financial details. We do not collect, use or disclose any sensitive information about you (such as racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, memberships, religious beliefs, sexual preference, health or criminal record).

We use your information to provide services to you, to fulfill administrative functions associated with these services and for billing purposes. We may also use your personal information to send you promotional material (if you choose to receive them).

How we collect personal information

UPI will collect and hold your personal information in a fair and lawful manner, and not in an unreasonably intrusive way. Where it is reasonably practical to do so, we will collect your personal information directly from you. However, in certain cases we may collect personal information from third parties, including from publicly available sources.

UPI collects personal information about you in a number of ways, including:

  1. a) Directly from you, when you provide information by phone, email, online or through warranty information; and
  2. b) From third parties such as our related branded websites including UPI, Thermoskin, CoolXChange, Sea-Band, SleepDoctor Snoring Relief, and  iHealthSphere

How we use your personal information

As a general rule, UPI only processes personal information for purposes that would be considered relevant and reasonable in the circumstances. UPI will only collect information that is necessary for the purposes as described in this Privacy Policy, or other purposes specifically communicated to you. UPI collects, holds, uses and discloses to:

  1. Give you access to our Websites and other content, products and services available from UPI;
  2. Enter you into and manage our competitions and promotions;
  3. Administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature;
  4. Process your transactions; including third parties for the purpose of validating information and freight companies for the purpose of delivery of goods

Protection of personal information

At UPI, your personal information is treated with the greatest of care. UPI maintains appropriate physical, procedural and technical security for its offices and information storage facilities so as to prevent any loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, or modification of personal information. This also applies to disposal of personal information.

UPI further protects personal information by restricting access to personal information by our staff on a need to know basis only. Physical, electronic and managerial procedures have been employed to safeguard the security and integrity of your personal information.

We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information. Your personal information is contained behind secured networks and is only accessible by a limited number of persons who have special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential. When you place orders or access your personal information, we offer the use of a secure server. All credit information you supply is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into our databases to be only accessed as stated above.

Disclosure of personal information

In general, we do not disclose your personal information for a purpose other than:

  • a purpose set out in this Privacy Policy;
  • a purpose you would reasonably expect;
  • a purpose required or permitted by law; or
  • a purpose otherwise disclosed to you to which you have consent.

Transfer of personal information overseas

As the internet is a global environment, using the internet to collect and process personal information necessarily involves the transmission of that information worldwide.

We may disclose your personal information to companies that are associated with us overseas, including to the USA, UK, China, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Like most businesses, marketing is important to UPI’s continued success. We believe we have a unique range of products and services that we provide to customers at a high standard. We therefore like to stay in touch with customers and let them know about new opportunities. We may provide you with information about new products, services and promotions.

We may disclose your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

You may opt out at any time if you no longer wish to receive commercial messages from us. You can make this request by contacting our Privacy Officer.

Online – Cookies

Web servers may receive cookies from our web server in order to improve the functionality of our website and for security purposes. These cookies do not store any personal information, are not stored on your hard drive and expire when you exit your web browser. When you access our website, we may place cookies, pixels or other code on your computer to collect information about your usage of our website and information about the device you are using to access our website (Session Data). This information is used in learning about how our website is used and to enable us to create a better user experience. We may use service providers to collect Session Data on our behalf. A cookie is a small file on your computer which contains information that will enable us to recognise your browser next time you visit our website. Google Analytics

When you visit certain sections of our website, Google Analytics, a website analytics service provided by Google, Inc (“Google”), will place cookies on your computer’s browser. The information generated by the cookies about your use of our website is transmitted to Google. This information is then used for the purpose of compiling statistical reports to enable us to measure and analyse the number of visits to our website and its pages, the average time spent on the site and the pages viewed. We will not (and will not allow any third party to) use Google Analytics to track or to collect any personal data of visitors to our website. Accessing and correcting your personal information

You may contact our Privacy Officer to request access to the personal information that we hold about you and/or to make corrections to that information, at any time. On the rare occasions when we refuse access, we will provide you with a written notice stating our reasons for refusing access. We may seek to recover from you reasonable costs incurred for providing you with access to any of the personal information about you held by us.

UPI is not obliged to correct any of your personal information if it does not agree that it requires correction and may refuse to do so. If UPI refuses a correction request, we will provide you with a written notice stating our reasons for refusing.
